“Beauty is …”

Reflections is a cultural arts program sponsored by the National PTA, and provides children in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 with the opportunity to express themselves through the arts and to receive recognition for original works of art inspired by the current theme. Students have the opportunity to enter in any of six areas:

• literature
• photography
• musical composition
• dance choreography
• film/video production
• visual arts (which includes forms such as drawing, painting, print making, and collage)

Entries must be the student’s original work. Students may enter any (one or more) of the six categories, as many times as they like. Each entry must have a completed Official Entry Form. Entries will be collected at Chalker and are due by TBA.

If your child is interested in participating, complete the interest form that was sent home with your child last week, and return it to the school. Official participation rules and entry forms will be sent home with your student. Or, email reflections@chalker.ptsamail.com and we will email the information to you.

National PTA is also conducting a theme search for its Reflections Program for 2010-2011. The student who submits the winning entry will receive $100, and his or her theme will be presented at the 2009 PTA National Convention. A theme search form is also provided.
